Or maybe just tell him that Tomcat is a JSP/Servlet Engine. In other words
it's an application which you can connect to various web servers. When you
do connect Tomcat to web servers like Apache, Netscape or IIS that webserver
becomes capable of handling requests to .jsp files.
Tomcat does have its own internal web server so it is not neccesary to
connect it to an external web server but it's not reccomended that the
internal Tomcat web server be used for production purposes due to
performance problems.

and look for the big tomcat logo, probably from the same launch point that
