I'm new in Java and all I know is what I've learned in a 2-month's-course. Now I have to develop a web-enabled program which takes the working time of each employee. The first step is to choose the best technology. I think, this will be the hardest part of the task, because there are so much possibilities. I have to take into consideration the aspects of a firewall, the encryption of the data, the synchronization, the program must be based on a browser, shall be started from a CD-Rom on client side(there has nothing to be installed), replicable and it must be possible to take the data out of the web (on a floppy disk). Do you have any idea which criterias are important for making an evaluation. I'm thinking, JSP is fine, but what has to go on the client side? Which Database is the best choice? Do you know any helpful links in the internet where you can find a comparison between the different possible solutions, including the advantages and the drawbacks? Thank you in advance!
