hi veronique,
nice to know that u are interested in knowing about diwali. Its like Christmas for
Indians. And as far as off-topic discussion is concerned, well u'd see what happens
to this mailing list around Christmas.
Though Diwali is primarily a Hindu religion's festival, everybody belonging to any
religion in India celebrates it with the same enthusiasm. e.g. i myself am not a
hindu, Also the person who started this string of messages here was not a hindu too!
Its called the festival of lights and its this spirit which is more celebrated than
anything else! Anyway, if more than 1/6th of the world is happy about this day, why
don't u all join us(we r 1 billion plus!!)!!
If u have heard about Lord Rama, this was the day he returned home after spending 14
years in exile and defeating the (evil) king Ravana. So all the streets are lit up
for the new moon night.
HAVE A NICE AND HAPPY DIWALI, EVERYBODY!!
