I think that beans are wise idea.
First you separate logic from content.
Second you can make as many changes as you want in you .jsp file and you
do not have to recompile/change the bean. The code is there to stay and
whatever you do in your .jsp files does not affect it.
Third, you have a clearer JSP file if you do not have all this java code
in there, therefore it is easier to debug it.
Four, a bean is reusable. You can have a bean, and then your colleague can
use exactly the same bean you are using for his own functionallity. If you
have the bean code inside the JSp page, then it is not reusable.
