I would recommend that you start off by reading what's available at:

- the Struts web site (http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/)
- Ted Husted's Struts page (http://www.husted.com/about/struts/)

After that, download Struts itself and play with the example application.
Then you should have a good idea of what Struts can do, and how you can use
it in your own applications.

There is certainly a lot of functionality there, but it is, IMHO, a very
well designed framework, and so allows you to make the most of that
functionality with relatively little work on your part.
