Webgain (visual cafe) and BEA have some sort of marketing agreement and one
owns a piece/most of the other. The integration between the two is VERY
tight and works rather well. I have been trying to contact webgain through
email about getting the 4.1 upgrade though. So far it has been 2 days.
That might be worrisome. I do like Vcafe though. We picked it over
jbuilder mostly because it required config file munging to get jbuilder to
work while vcafe just ran. Also, jbuilder is coupled with Borland's own
J2EE engine. The support for weblogic will never be at the same level as
for their own server. Webgain studio (vcafe) also includes a development
license for weblogic with each copy. I don't know how important that is to
you.
