By Auto-refresh a JSP page I presume you are referring to auto-refreshing
any kind of html page, am I correct.

In this regard you might try a meta-refresh, a standard HTML tag:
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="[secs];URL=[RefreshUrl]">
