Taglibs aren't complicating the workflow; they're just representing the
workflow *differently*. Beans are great, but JSP tends to view them as
storage mechanisms and not processes; that doesn't mean you can't use them
as processes, certainly. (Most people use them this way, to be sure.)
However, a taglib allows you do perform actions without any scriptlets
whatsoever, which to my way of thinking hides the bean mechanism very well.
There are still things you can do with embedded scriptlets that you can't do
with tags, of course, but perhaps the next JSP spec will improve that, with
better taglib attribute support and possibly even JSPT, which would be VERY
nice (but unlikely.)
