check this: when you try to make connection to my sql db from bean
or jsp pages, the driver should be in tomcat's classpath...
this may be case that when you run this program as standalone
app, that class is in your classpath at runtime...

Subject: Connecting to MySql DB
Hi
I have a DBconnect class that connects to a mySql DB. When it runs as an
application it runs fine and a connection is set up, but when the calss is
used as a bean from a JSP Page i get the exception "No suitable driver" I
have also tried put the code in the JSP page a scriptle but the same
problem. I am running tomcat4.0 and the driver im using is mm.mysql.
Thanks
Damien
