i also had same problem. so i first wrote the csv file to the server and then gave the 
link to it on the subsequent page. this could be downloaded to the local system.

the browser shows me a excel page.
but there is a problem. It show me a jsp page if i say to it for shown and
not to save.
when i want to see this page it asks me if i want to save or show the page.
