One great place to start would be the javamail faq located at
http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/FAQ.html
One of the cool aspects of javaMail is that messages are considered objects.
Manipulating the message can be very easy, just get and set properties on
the message object.
----
Message myMessage = new MimeMessage(mailSession);
myMessage.setFrom(<fromAddress>);
myMessage.setRecipient(<recipient>);
myMessage.setSubject(<subject>);
myMessage.setSentDate(new Date());
myMessage.setText(<messageBody>);
transport = mailSession.getTransport("smtp");
transport.send(myMessage);
