in the J2EE Reference Implementation you can set a property when
deploying Web components (using the deploytool) - the deployment wizzard
calls the field:
"Startup Load Sequence Position"
the default value is '-1' which means the JSP/Servlet is *not*
pre-loaded. If you want a component pre-loaded simply set the value to
'1' - i.e a non negative number (i figure the value you st defines the
order of compilation).
In my experience having the server pre-compile pages on startup does
make the app server start-up very slow but it works fine. In a 'real'
system i'd look for a mixture of pre-compiled and not pre-compiled pages
depending on how often you think the pages will be hit (and anyway - the
first person to hit the page forces compilation regardless so you only
get the hit once).
