Image from URL with basic authentication

Hi
I am trying to get an image from a URL that needs basic authentication. I am declaring 
the url as follows:
URL url = new URL ("http://username:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/images/image.jpg";);

Then I am using javax.swing.imageIcon to load the image into an Image object.

The whole thing works where basic authentication is not required.
How can I get an image/document that needs basic authentication?
Any clue??
