Are we trying to determine which nation is uglier in
their deeds?
All nations have their low moments of characters since
nations are made of human beings who are not perfect. However the great nations,
like great persons, acknowledge their mistakes and try hard to correct it.
I must say that US as a nation gets highest marks in this regard. They tend to
acknowledge their mistakes and better yet, tend to correct it. Although their
are some gray areas (like US policies towards Palestine) but I am hopeful
that they need to reasoned with in this regard and their character is that they
will accept the right reasoning.
One of the bases for the US to be more open to reasoning
is its highly educated population and leaders. Education makes a
difference. Because of better educated policy-makers and leaders in US, we
have expectations that they know how to behave better, specially in a time
of test like the present.
On the other side, in east and
specially Muslim world, education is so low that they really don't know any
better way than they are behaving. I think they were kept in dark (education
wise) by the colonial powers because that time world was segregated and it
was in the interest of colonial powers to keep the subject nations deprived of
education and other civilized traits. Due to these policies, while in the west
Harvard and Oxford were prospering, in the Muslim world educated was banned for
the mass population. Now the world has become integrated and the colonial
policies are bearing it fruits and in the present integrated world all
are having the taste of the fruit of keeping colonies deprived of
education and freedom. Shell we complain? It is human tragedy and we must
not forget the perspective.
USA is now is the focus of attention. All eyes are
on USA. Will it go for revenge or for justice? I am sure US will not go for
revenge.
Finally I must admire that being a new comer in USA,
majority of the US people is still friendly to me and they know
that as Tim MeCvaigh does not represent America, those terrorists does not
represent all the Muslims. God bless all
