Take such opinions with a large grain of salt. Some time ago I saw a
posting about
Tomcat performance which said that it was near the bottom of the list, the
reason being
that the developers were focusing on functionality first with the intention
of addressing
performance later. And I know from looking around that JRun is one of the
cheapest
servlet containers you can buy, though obviously the free ones are cheaper.

Tomcat 3.2.3 is very fast ans stable. Where as JRUN is costly and not much
development is going on there, But, Tomcat is very good in future.

Subject: Jrun vs Tomcat

Hello Everybody

After months of soul searching (about using one Web Development and what
maybe the best) and with matters finally forcing my hand I have decided that
I will be using ASP on IIS, NT Server etc and where I can use Apache (My
preference) either on UNIX or Windows I would like use JSP.

I am in the throes of producing what I have done in ASP as well as CGI/Perl
using JSP.

I was just about to download Tomcat when I saw a fleeting remark that JRun
is much better and more stable than Tomcat.

Is this the case and why? It doesn't matter to me either way as I am
thinking of purchasing Dreamweaver Ultradev now that Jrun and Coldfusion
come packaged in the same box.

I look forward to and be interested in any replies.
