>From a dos window go to the directory where tomcat was installed, e.g
C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0.
>From there cd to the bin directory.
In the bin directory you find the startup.bat and shutdown.bat.
Enter startup.bat
Now go to a browser and use URL: http://localhost:8080
You should see the Tomcat page come up if install was correct and startup
worked.
Hope this helps,
best, Su

Subject: Trouble With Tomcat

One of our clients has tomcat4 installed and configured to work with
Apache. I didn't do the install, so I'm a bit a loss.

I need to update their site, but I can't figure out how to stop & start
tomcat there. I know used the RPM to install Tomcat under Red Hat 6. Tomcat
is installed as follows:

/var/tomcat4

Well, the /var/tomcat4/bin directory does not have the shutdown.sh &
startup.sh scripts I'm used to; I've only worked w/ the stand alone tomcat
so far.

Can anyone give a clue?
