i presume that in your table on submit of button1 you could do like this.
if( request.getAttribute("isOnSubmitOfButton1") != null )
formt he table with check boxes.
when you first load this page this attribute wil be null so you will not get
the table at all.
when you press button1 set this attribute to a not-null value.
also the action tag should point to this jsp page.
if possible send the 2 jsp's i will take a look at it.
