One way you can handle user closing the browser is:
In your HTML page try to use frames ( even if you dont have frames) Let
the whole page be in one frame and then have one frame of width and height
as 0.
Now even when you navigate through your application the frame should always
be there.
Finally write some javascript code which should be executed on unloading of
the frame.
So now when the frame is unloaded you call some Servlet which essentially
means that the user is logging off.
There is one catch, i.e when the user has multiple browser windows open in
the same session this will be a problem. But with some more logic you can
wrok around this problem also.
acc. to me this is the only real solution
