You can store the data as a BLOB (Binary Long OBject, or the source as a CLOB
(Character Long OBject). There is also another option known as a BFILE that stores a
pointer, but I usually go with the other two.
This is a great book with examples on how to do it:

You can also download the Java/Blob/Clob examples in the book from the site, but I'd
recommend purchasing the book if you do a lot of Oracle JDBC Programming. It will give
meaning to the code.

Earth to Steven....

Anyway, to answer Joshy's question in the absence of Stevens lucidity. I believe it is
possible. What you would need to do though, is serialize the object first to a byte
stream and then write this to a BLOB-type field in your DB.

I have not done personally done this in JSP (yet), a while back though I did something
simmilar from ASP - I saved an images raw binary to a DB. The database in question was
Sybase (groan), and it did require some special use of the ODBC driver.

So, if that can be done in ASP with a Sybase DB, I am pretty sure you should be able
to save serialized objects to just about any major DB using JDBC. In fact if it is
Oracle with thier 300% java promise then it should definately be possible.

For the details you may have to STW or BAB.

Cheers
Adrian
