Good question.  The web server and web browsers themselves are stateless;
being disconnected for 10 minutes is the same as simply not making a new
request (i.e., clicking a link) for 10 minutes.  Session expiration can be
set to arbitrary values, but typically the default is about 20.  So as
long as you plug the server in soon enough, the sessions won't expire.
Disconnecting the cable has no effect on internal JVM state.

I actually think stuff like this is quite important for good web design;
understanding HTTP makes it easier to design applications carefully and
