You may not be able to call an API function from vbscript or javascript. One of the possibility I can think of is using activex.

The java could be helpful, but he is forcing them to do a login. In our database applications now, it is checking the advapi32.dll and checking the GetUserName against what is in the database. If it finds a match, they are allowed in to the database. Otherwise, they are not. They don't have to do any sort of login and password since it uses what is in the dll for verification. The only thing that is different between an NT machine and regular windows machine is that the dll is located in a different place.
