You may not be able to call an API function from vbscript or javascript.
One of the possibility I can think of is using activex.

Subject: AdvAPI32.DLL and GetUserName

Can anyone provide some sample code that could handle this situation?

TIA,

NO. not yet. The java could be helpful, but he is forcing them to do a
login. In our database applications now, it is checking the advapi32.dll
and checking the GetUserName against what is in the database. If it finds a
match, they are allowed in to the database. Otherwise, they are not. They
don't have to do any sort of login and password since it uses what is in the
dll for verification.

The only thing that is different between an NT machine and regular windows
machine is that the dll is located in a different place.

Carl;
Let me know if this helps.. (Its a long one)
I'll keep digging if this isn't helpful.

Could you please help me find some vbscript or javascript for web pages that
checks the advapi32.dll for the GetUserName so that I can use it to check
against a database in the web for valid login?

So far I can VB and VBA but not VBScript or JavaScript. I think that it
must be done as client-sided. One place indicated HTTP-USER but I haven't
found anything on that yet either.

Thanks

Carl
