Hi Abdul,

Normally, all you have to do with Tomcat (the latest version) is to put your
webapps in $TOMCAT$/webapps directory.

The easiest way to deploy a webapp in such a way is to put the .WAR (Web
Archive) in that directory. When started, Tomcat will auto-deploy (that is,
extract the files from the war file) in a directory named the same as the
WAR file and will configure itself to accept the new webapp.

Another way to deploy a web app is to copy the entire directory structure in
the /webapps folder and add an entry in Tomcat's XML configuration file (in
$TOMCAT$/conf directory) that points to this new directory.

You'll then be able to access your webapp with the address
http://localhost:8080/yourNewlyDeployedWebApp/index.jsp

HTH,
David

Hi,

I am using Tomcat apache server for deploying jsp pages. I want to have a
well defined folder structure to arrange the jsp pages according to the
modules they belong to. I want to know how to do this so that the jsp pages
can be accessed from a browser using a url like
http://localhost:8080/application-name/index.jsp.

What is the difference between path and docBase items in the context tag in
server.xml found under conf folder of tomcat installation folder. Also where
to keep the web-inf folder.

<Context path="" docBase="d:/application/jsp" debug="0"/>

Thanks,
Abdul
