Like anything else that communicates with a servlet. Through HTTP requests. But you don't usually connect an applet with a servlet.
And I do not mean to whine, but please communicate in a way that is proper for mailing lists. That's uppercase letters at the start of a sentence, correct punctuation and no short forms such as "u".
