So we're not identical with the Titans but merely subject to the same limitations? I often find it difficult not to draw the identity titan = human. The Titans seem to be our present archetypes - we certainly have nothing much in common with the gods at this point. But if we are not the Titans, who are we in this mythological scheme - who can "cope" with the Titans? The humans, the gods? I like to believe that we have all these beings inside, that the outer confusion over identity and loyalty is mirrored by an equivalent inner reality. Junger said to me that "Nietzsche war ein gross Titan" to which I asked, "und wir, was sind wir?".... "Das müsst ihr selbst entdecken". No help there. My wild guess?...We are, in a sense, Titans whose destiny is to discover and give birth to gods from within - from self-knowledge, via art and poetry. The fire of the gods is stolen and put to creative use. Excuse the self-indulgent digression - the topic is altogether irresistable! (I hope I don't sound like a new-ager!!! God forbid.)
