I have no idea how this got onto the list. It seems to have come from another mailing list based in Oxford. If it happens again I'll have to get in touch with Scotty Logan who runs the Majordomo software there. In a way we've been very lucky not to have had a lot of spamming. I do hope I won't have to turn the list into a closed one.
Meanwhile I would have to express my support for John's comments about the book. It all sounds so wonderfully saccharine. Yet another magic solution. I am deeply unconvinced by this sort of "Titanic" (?) attempt to solve problems on the basis of rational thought. On another note, I shall be working over the next few months on developing some knowledge of perl and cgi-scripts. What do list members think of the idea of putting in a guest book on the "Ernst Jünger in Cyberspace" page? Or, indeed, a "bulletin board" in which discussion could be carried on in a more public sphere, such that interested parties have an idea of what takes place on the mailing list before joining it, or where important news could be posted? If I get really clever at programming (!) I will see about making the bibliography searchable, something I've been wanting to do for ages. The other technical improval that has taken place is the addition of basic meta-data tags which should allow the site to be indexed more convincingly by search engines such as AltaVista. If anyone has any suggestions for improvements, expansion or, indeed, has any contributions of their own they'd like to see on the site, then please don't hesitate to get in touch. We're currently back to the average of 10-20 hits a day, so several thousand a year. Anyone tempted? Best wishes from Hamburg, John King
