For the benefit of Bertil's project to look into the origin of "Stahlgewitter" I
should add that Felix Genzmer (1878-1959), who was, by the way, a law professor
in Marburg and Tübingen, first published his Edda translation together with the
famous Germanist and specialist in Germanic literatures and prosody, Andreas
Heusler, in two volumes in 1912 and 1917. To be sure, Genzmer's Edda became
popular only later (after EJ had given his first book its famous title) when
Diederichs published it in the Thule edition. But EJ, the avid reader book
collector and reader, could have taken notice of the first edition even in times
of war.
