Apart of course from the Strasser group - and those who saw National Socialism as much a socialist, anti-capitalist group as it was voelkisch. Despite Ernst Niekisch's virulent and committed opposition to Hitler, National Bolschevism certainly had much in common with National Socialism. Hitler, of course, as opposed to the splintered groups of the Conservative Revolution had a much better understanding of practical politics - and consequently harnassed both capital fundraisers and the anxieties of the voting masses - for whom Juenger, Franke et al. had nothing but contempt. > interpreted as a positive view of the communist > terror system compared to the horrors of national > socialist eastern policy. Well, I have already pointed out his admiration in the 1920s for Lenin's ruthlessness in comparison to what he saw as the half-hearted nature of the 1918/19 revolutions in Germany. I would suggest that this is because at the time Juenger saw the "Nationalist Revolution" as offering salvation - and the religous, almost messianic nature of his writings in 20s has hardly been noticed underneath a compromising nationalist rhetoric with its calls for the nationalist dictatorship which sounds so disturbing post-45. I'll leave further comments on Titanism to Olaf ;-) To summarise, EJ in the 1920s had an ambivalent attitude and reserved the bulk of his venom not for communism or bolschevism but for the Weimar state and its parliamentary, democratic, liberal system, indeed welcomed the negative effect on the constitutional state of communist activism. Of course, I willingly concede the point that he moved away from this position and reject any attempt to reduce Juenger to it.
