was IMHO (Bertil, you direct descendant of Hägar & Co, please correct me if I'm
wrong!) due to the effectiveness of their methods of combat (including going
berserk) and pillaging and slaughtering, also due to their unheard-of mobility
and the scarcity of reliable news about them and their whereabouts. When EJ
writes that it was rather due to "gespeicherte mythische Substanz" I feel like
reading Heidegger: it sounds somehow profound and important but it leaves me
emptyhanded
