Listmembers, A few more comments on the 60-minute film with three interviews with EJ broadcast on Swedish TV2 on Thursday 9 December 1999.
In my opinion the interviews focused too much on the nationalist period and on WW2. Naturally WWI and _In Stahlgewittern_ featured prominently. The film was not remarkable and the questions were not placed in a coherent way. EJ is not given the presentation he deserves in the context of his time. The post-WW2 period is barely touched upon and important books like _Eumeswil_ and EJ's diaries are absent. Titanism and the struggle between Gods and Titans is mentioned once but is not given the central place it deserves. In between the questions and answers the director places some old film footage to describe for instance the Weimar period. This is, I am afraid, a film by amateurs who were lucky getting access to EJ not long before his death and the interviews were thus the longest made when EJ was 102 years old. EJ's dry humour is there and he sometimes laughs at his own comments in an ironical way. This is a film well worth watching but some more literary expertise could have made it very interesting indeed, even a literary testament. With Juengerian greetings Bertil Haggman
