Actually around here the opinions are about 50/50 on which is better. IntelliJ seems to do nice refactoring and is very speedy for a swing application. On the other hand, Eclipse is really starting to get there now. Some of the plug-ins are really amazing. I'd say that by the end of the year, there will be no contest.
