Smaller all the time... I've been exchanging email recently with Steve Loughran (Erik's coauthor on the Ant book - http://www.iseran.com/Steve/papers/antbook.html - he's speaking at our JUG in January)
Steve rocks! I'm still in awe when I read the tricks he pulled with Ant, Axis, and C# in our web services chapter.

, who in turn recognized my name through the symposium connection with you.
I e-mailed him from the presentation in Denver that I attended (while you were talking!) and told him that he was quoted on your slides :))

I'm really looking forward to when the symposiums resume in 2003, so I can meet up with everyone again - it's at least as much fun for the speakers as for the attendees.
And to provide a little close-to-homeness for the local Tucson folk - this symposium circuit will be in Phoenix March 28-30. If you have an interesting topic you'd like to present, contact me and I'll get you in touch with the organizer. He likes to have a few local folks present as well as us traveling "regulars".

The symposiums are a blast. Its such a friendly approachable group of folks.

With the net we're all local, though. ;-)
And I live in Virginia! :) But my long-term plan is to get a winter place in Tucson! Does that count?

Also, to localize me on the net some... blog me up at:

http://www.ehatchersolutions.com/blog.cgi

append ?flav=rss if you want to syndicate it. If you're a Mac user, fire up NetNewsWire... it rulez. Don't get too attached to that URL though... I'm rewriting blosxom in Java and my ISP sorta sucks so the URL will change when I migrate to that version.

Erik
