Okay, so it is my fault for putting "Optimal J" and "Product Demo" in
one original email. But I brought up OptimalJ because it may be part of
my life in another few weeks. Originally I was just wondering if anybody
had experience with the tool. ;-)

TOPIC 2: OptimalJ
I would be interested in an OptimalJ demo, if and only if:
1) first poll indicates that demos of XX min are acceptable to a
majority
and
2) a separate poll indicates that a fair amount of the GROUP would like
to have an OptimalJ demo

Please keep in mind that even if 1 & 2 are true -- a company still needs
to offer or agree to present!

BTW: I truly did not realize that Compuware was one of the companies who
has already made such an offer.

----
And now an aside that flirts with the grey area, "Is this about OptimalJ
or Demos?"

Personally - I wouldn't rule out a product DEMO because it is
"expensive" because that term is highly subjective. (ex. a product may
be expensive to some, but a bargain at twice the price to others, and
the opinion may change dramatically next week with a new
employer/client)

I'm not saying I would buy and/or be able to even afford OptimalJ (heck,
I don't even know how much it costs)... but I would still be interested
in a short demo of the technology (MDA) and how the tool can help.

The trick would be if the presenter can give me a compelling TECHNOLOGY
story, and "oh by the way" we have a product than can help.

A chap did a preso like this with EJB 2.0... by middle of the preso I
was convinced that Container Managed Persistence (CMP) using local
interfaces was a Good Thing(tm).

The presenter then slipped gracefully into, "Oh, and by the way, here is
a demo using Borland JBuilder and BEA Server using CMP, notice how the
tools help make CMP even easier."

I had given JBuilder "The Finger(tm)" a week before, but the technology
story was so compelling, I thought, "well... maybe JB might be worth
re-installing... maybe."
