Matt Raible's AppFuse project is a skeleton project that demonstrates how to use Struts, XDoclet, and Hibernate to build a J2EE web application. The Ant build script also includes working targets for running JUnit tests, Cactus test, HTTPUnit tests, and so on. It is a great source of examples if you are going to use any of these tools, and if you like the basic architecture (i.e. Struts, Hibernate, DAO, etc.) you could use it as the basis for a new project.

Does anyone know of any open source J2EE applications (as opposed to
application servers or tools) that are available that could be used or
customized instead of starting from scratch?
