Great progress on the lxd provider side: <http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/j/juju-core/> Thanks to help from everyone in the bug, we have a working autopkgtest and juju 2.0 has migrated out of proposed into the main archive. Along with that, Tycho has proposed a couple of branches aimed at making the first use experience less painful.
