Is there anyone here that knows language q / kdb <http://kx.com/>? Julia reminds me of a lot of things I like about this language (based on the K language <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K_(programming_language)>).
q is definitely centred around/better for time-series data than Julia. It has a very terse syntax (the q gurus described Julia as "very verbose" ha :) Interested in your views on contrasting the two technologies - I've always wanted to have an open-source kdb (Kona<https://github.com/kevinlawler/kona>is only a subset), hoping that Julia is the (more verbose) manifestation of that idea.
