What is it that you are trying to do? You don't need to call stand with a mysterious number. Pick your favorite number
srand(53) and do your thing. If you want to change your model but use the same seed, you know it already. If you want the same model with a different seed, just pick 67 or whatever suits your fancy. There is no need to make this more mysterious than it really is.
