I have been having a very similar issue, whilst trying to build julia in my home directory on a cluster. I also had problems building openblas, which was solved by using OPENBLAS_DYNAMIC_ARCH=0.
I also have the same errors when running code: /lib64/libz.so.1: no version information available On top of that, when I run $make test the file.jl tests fail on @test isreadable(file) which I find peculiar. Building from source is such a nightmare sometimes, I didn't quite understand your discussion below. Is there anything I can do to rectify these issues?
