A bit of a general tangent on the topic of documentation using igital media, but I've often wondered: why don't we use the fact that we can collapse/expand text blocks more often in documentation settings? (probably wouldn't be easily done with RTD-generated Julia documentation, but I'm thinking more general here). Arbitrarily deep ratholes are less of a problem then, as you could hide them behind expandable text, or even expandable text within expandable text.
