Hej!

Pkg.checkout("DASSL") should do it as well (see 
http://julia.readthedocs.org/en/latest/stdlib/pkg/?highlight=pkg#Base.Pkg.checkout).

Sometimes it can be really confusing if one uses README on github as 
"documentation" since it reflects the latest developments in master and not 
the version that was last tagged. Maybe something like Pkg.readme(pkg) 
which shows the local README would be useful?
