Wow, I really appreciate all the work you've put into this so far. I hadn't been aware of any Debian packages for CasaCore, but it looks like the SKA has packaged CasaCore (https://launchpad.net/~ska-sa/+archive/ubuntu/main). It's not immediately obvious to me which package is needed from that repository, but I'll look into it.
