Note there's also an open issue for requiring a higher overall standard for officially registered packages in the JuliaLang/METADATA.jl package repository. It's a big issue with a lot of work required to get to the proposal, but it would lead to (hopefully) instilling more confidence in users knowing that anything they add through `Pkg.add()` would meet some acceptable level of quality and robustness.
