Hi Tom, This is am ambitious idea. I wish you the best of luck. How do you plan to deal with incompatibilities between plotting backends? Every backend is different. Gadfly cannot do 3D plots, and Gnuplot is missing some plotting symbols that other libraries have.
For reference, I use PyPlot. I use it because I use these plots in my research and in publications and I need the most mature library I can find. How are your plans to add PyPlot support?
