Usually I leave Jupyter running 24/7 in the background.   I don't leave all 
the *notebooks* open (you can either choose "close and halt" from the 
notebook's file menu, or halt them via the checkbox in the jupyter 
dashboard window); the Jupyter web server itself takes up very little 
memory.
