Not sure if it's helpful, but I wrote a package called Flatten.jl to recursively flatten data structures to vectors or tuples and un-flatten them to recover the original structure. But it only operates on fixed-size data (i.e DataTypes and Tuples, not Arrays). But if you find it useful, let me know: https://github.com/rdeits/Flatten.jl
