Hi Vishesh, It would be best for you to start contributing to one of the many packages that are available in Julia (List <http://pkg.julialang.org/>). Make yourself comfortable with the syntax, try to understand the source code and contribute patches if possible.
You can always have a look at this year GSoc projects here <http://julialang.org/soc/ideas-page.html>.
