I usually use a different branch for travis tweaking. They also have the docker 
images they use for sudo: false builds publicly available, I'd have to look for 
a link - it's on quay.io under a travis ci organization I think. You can also 
contact Travis CI support and ask for temporary ssh access if you're really 
stuck.
