A short answer is that you don't really need to compile OpenJUMP
unless you plan on modifying the source code in the program core. You
can download a nightly build from here:


If you do want to add functionality, try to do it using OpenJUMP's
plug-in mechanism. (If you still want to compile OpenJUMP I can
provide an Ant build script that will allow you to do this.)
