Hi Larry,
I gave a test to your new Skyjump 96 and ISA tools too.
First of all I always wander for the selection of new tools. Congratulation
again for the work and your collaboration with OJ!
A couple of ideas/thoughts:
- Annotation tool and Annotation distance seem to be extremelly usefull,
unfortunatelly when the file Annotation is saved and then reloaded again, it
looses all the display text.
Likelly I saw that all the information are saved when the Task is saved, both
in Skyjump and OpenJUMP. This is usefull as Annotation can be used as a text
tool in some cases, for instance to draw toponomastic on topografic maps. Do
you think it is possible to implement the type/colour of fonts?
Text block Annotation would be interesting to be ported on OpenJUMP, on Editing
toolbox, as a part of software.
- On the other hand, I think you can consider the idea to create an extra
toolbox to move all the other Skyjump tools (Find Arc Center or Join With
Multi-Arcs and Buffer tool, and more). This toolbox could take the name of CAD
toolbox (similar to the one in Kosmo) or, better, ISA Toolbox. Openjump and
Skyjump could have a similar sistem: an Editing toolbox, for pure editing tools
(edit, draw, cut) and a CAD/ISA toolbox for more advanced tools. Maybe "Set
color tool" and "Pick color tool" could be moved to this CAD/ISA toolbox. This
new toolbox could be instalkled as external plugin (for CAD fans!)
- OpenJUMP: I like your work on buffer. I thik that all buffer tools on
Tool>Generate menu should be grouped on a specific submenu Tool>Generate>Buffer
to give them more evidence and have space to "let the family grows"
- A bug: I create a 3 buffer rings from a feature (they appear with three
different red/orange colours with a new attribute Label) than I selected them
and choose edit>Auto Assign Attribute and chhose "Destination Attribute"=Label
and "Autoincrement" ON. The three buffer rings turn their colour to gray.
-When do you restore Jython plugin to OpenJUMP 1.2F?

Good job!
Regards

Peppe
