Hi all, I made an alternative EXE file to run OJ on Windows (OJ.EXE). This EXE basically launches the openjump.bat file in the BIN directory. It doesn't substitute it. This file in attached at this mail: REname OJ.ZI to OJ.ZIP and decompres it.
How I made it: 1) create another batch file in the BIN directory called RUN.BAT with only one line (=openjump.bat) 2) I use "Bat to exe converter" to transform this RUN.BAT in OJ.EXE file.I set these parameters on "Bat to exe converter": the batch file to convert (RUN.BAT) , the icon, ghost application. RUN.BAT and the icon files are included in the OJ.ZIP files, in the folder RESOURCES How to use it: Just put OJ.EXE file in your Openjump/BIN folder and click on it to launch OpenJUMP. DON'T delate OpenJUMP.bat file. I made this alternative EXE file after reading many posts of users where the answer was the same: set correct parameters in bat file, don't use exe file, use the batch one. The idea is that OpeOJ.EXE launch the program reading openjump.bat file: the latest becames a sort of INI file. Thus, in the next time that users ask about memory, language or other problems, we can simply answer to set the correct parametres in the batch file, without delating/not using the exe one. Of coarse this idea is not really elegant but it works. I have been tested this file for a couple of weeks on some files/operations with no problems. BTW I like the SkyJUMP and gvSIG way to have EXE and an INI file (Windows). Is it possible to do the same with OpenJUMP? Regards Peppe PS Rename the OpenJUMP.ZI to OpenJUM
OJ.zi
