Hi, Quite a many PostGIS clients rely on geometry_columns table. Have you checked that the layers you are missing are listed there? Also, when dropping a table the geometry_columns table is not automatically updated but the corresponding line has to be removed manually. But if you are a massive PostGIS user you must know the importance of keeping geometry_columns up-to-date so perhaps this is something else? I can only tell that when I updated OpenJUMP to 1.3 and my old projects with PostGIS layers worked right away.
